General Dermatology
Acne
Acne - is a skin condition which has plugged pores (blackheads and whiteheads), inflamed pimples (pustules), and deeper lumps (nodules).
Actinic keratosis
Actinic keratosis - is a precancerous lesion of the outer layer of skin. It is also known as solar keratosis. Chronic sunlight exposure alters the keratinocytes (cells in the outer layer of skin), causing the skin to become scaly, rough, discolored and sometimes tender to touch.
Basal cell carcinoma
Basal cell carcinoma - is the most common form of skin cancer. It occurs most frequently on sun-exposed regions of the body. Chronic overexposure to sunlight is the leading cause of basal cell carcinoma; sun avoidance, especially during peak sunlight hours of 10am to 3pm is an important preventive measure to help reduce the risk of developing this skin cancer.
Malignant melanoma
Malignant melanoma- one of the most serious forms of skin cancer affecting the cells that produce dark protective pigment called melanin. Melanoma lesions may appear as a dark brown, black or multi-colored growth with irregular borders that can become crusted and bleed.
Melasma
Melasma- appears as brown or gray-brown patches on the face, especially on the cheeks, upper lip, nose, forehead, or chin. It frequently occurs on both sides of the face. Melasma is caused by excessive production of melanin, the pigment that causes your skin to tan.
Psoriasis
Psoriasis - is a disorder/disease caused by an overactive immune system response. With psoriasis, skin cells mature quicker than normal but shed at a normal rate. This causes a build up of dead skin cells that form lesions. The lesions are usually red and crusty. Symptoms include itchiness, red spots, scales and blisters. Psoriasis can be "set off" by stress, medications, infection or weather changes, for example.
Rosacea
Rosacea - facial redness - is a skin disease that causes redness and pimples on your nose, cheeks, chin, and forehead. The redness may come and go.
