Is Basal Cell Carcinoma a skin cancer?

Yes.  Basal cell carcinoma is the most common form of skin cancer.  It occurs over most frequently on sun-exposed regions of the body.

How can we protect ourselves?

Chronic overexposure to sunlight is the leading cause of basal cell carcinoma, sun avoidance, especially during peak sunlight hours of 10am to 3pm is an important preventive measure to help reduce the risk of developing this skin cancer.

Are certain people more at risk?

People with fair skin, light hair and blue, green or grey eyes are more at risk.
